Do Drunk People Know Their Heavy Equipment?

Read on to learn about the most important research we’ve ever conducted and why calm is contagious.

Weekly Update

My astute readers will notice the lack of a workforce poll this week. No… I didn’t forget. Instead, we took to the streets of Nashville, Tennessee (BuildWitt’s hometown) to perform what might be our best industry journalism yet.

The question was… Do random drunk people know their heavy equipment?

To conduct the research, we printed twelve photos featuring different construction machines like excavators, loaders, or haul trucks. With the images in hand, our process was simple. We’d walk up to random folks and kindly ask them to participate in our ground-breaking study.

While we have a full video and report with our findings coming soon, I think it’s safe to say that people do not know their heavy equipment. We have our work cut out for us.

Business Lesson Learned

Calm is contagious… This week, I received some less-than-ideal business news. Initially, I was worried and anxious.

I do my best to control my emotions, but sometimes the pressure gets the best of me. I’m still young and working on how to process emotions.

However, at the perfect time, Randy Blount called to talk through the news. We didn’t reach any earth-shattering conclusions to solve the problem, but he did significantly help me in two ways.

The first was that he was really calm. He knew the same news I did, yet he sounded as if nothing had happened. His calm brushed off on me, and I immediately felt better.

Second, he told me, “it’s supposed to be hard.” I guess helping to change an industry isn’t easy. Knowing this doesn’t make it all any more fun, but it does bring a strange bit of comfort.

Podcast

On this week’s Dirt Talk, Brian and Ryan Priestly stopped by to talk all things demolition. We talk about how they started in the business, what it’s like having a TV show, and what their future expansion plans look like. By the sounds of it, there may be more Priestly Demolition south of the Canadian border!

Vlog

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to demolish an airport or why landfills require so much earthmoving, this week’s vlogs are for you. The first features MILBURN Demolition crews in Tampa, Florida, and the second features Witech Excavating south of Chicago. Enjoy!

Keep up to date with all the news.
